Local police have been using knife arches in Harrow Town Centre throughout the Easter holidays as part of a wider operation to improve safety and prevent crime.
The arches, which detect concealed weapons, were set up in partnership with St George’s shopping centre and businesses such as Putt & Play. Officers were present to engage with the public and provide reassurance, with many residents welcoming the visible police presence.
The operation received positive feedback from the community, who appreciated the proactive steps being taken to deter crime and antisocial behaviour.
Harrow Business Improvement District (BID) reported a rise in footfall during the holiday period and said there was a noticeable increase in public confidence and trust in local policing.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support community-focused policing through high visibility patrols, crime prevention and targeted action.
