South Harrow has seen a noticeable reduction in anti-social behaviour and theft offences following an increased police presence in the area.
Throughout autumn and winter 2024, residents raised concerns about ongoing issues including shoplifting and anti-social behaviour. In response, Harrow’s local policing teams launched a focused operation to tackle the problems.
According to police, theft offences have gone down by 39% as a direct result of the increased activity.
A police spokesperson said: “Harrow’s local policing teams have driven a strong response to the communities’ concerns and have made South Harrow almost unrecognisable in relation to anti-social behaviour and shoplifting offences.”
They added: “South Harrow’s local policing teams are dedicated to keeping ASB and crime under wraps in this area.”
The operation forms part of wider efforts to engage with local residents and address persistent issues affecting communities across the borough. Officers say they will continue to monitor the area closely and take action where necessary.
