A witness has come forward following a disturbing incident that occurred around 6:35pm on Thursday (1 May) on a Metropolitan line at Harrow-on-the-Hill station.
According to the witness, a group of teenagers—one claiming to be 15—were discussing having “taken a swing at someone” earlier before an altercation broke out between one of them and an elderly man, believed to be in his 60s or 70s. The situation escalated quickly, with the man falling backwards onto the floor of the train.
The witness described the atmosphere turning completely silent, with concerned passengers watching as the man struggled but eventually managed to get up.
The teenagers reportedly exited the train soon after. One of them was heard saying, “I’m 15, he should have known better,” as they left.
The incident happened during rush hour and the train was moderately busy, with a number of passengers witnessing what happened.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said, “We received a late report of an assault that took place shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday 1 May, on board a Metropolitan Line train at Harrow on the Hill.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 721 of 01/05/25”
