A Northwood charity supporting vulnerable communities has received national exposure after being selected as a winner in Theo Paphitis’s weekly #SmallBusinessSunday (#SBS) initiative.
Change Ahead, which helps people facing homelessness, ex-offenders, refugees and individuals with learning disabilities, was chosen by the retail entrepreneur and former Dragons’ Den star after Co-Founder and CEO Mohsin Ravjani posted about the charity’s work on social media last Sunday.
Theo Paphitis reshared the charity’s story to his combined audience of over 800,000 followers across X, Instagram and LinkedIn, providing a major boost in profile for the organisation.
Change Ahead runs a number of community-led programmes, including urban farming, digital inclusion projects, financial literacy training and food distribution schemes. The aim is to provide long-term, sustainable change for people in need by improving access to housing, education and employment.
On receiving the recognition, Mohsin Ravjani said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised by Theo and the Small Business Sunday community. Change Ahead started with a simple mission — to turn lived experience into real, practical solutions for vulnerable people. Being acknowledged like this gives our entire team a huge boost and helps spread our message even further.”
Theo Paphitis, who is Chairman of Ryman, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Change Ahead every success.”
Businesses and charities can enter #SBS by posting about their work between 5pm and 7.30pm on Sundays using the hashtag #SBS on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram or LinkedIn. Six winners are announced every Monday evening and receive access to a support network, a profile on the #SBS website and opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs.
