Despite the cold and rainy weather, hundreds of people turned out at Headstone Manor & Museum today to mark 80 years since VE Day.
The special Bank Holiday event brought the community together with a mix of music, performances, food and family activities. While the past week has seen warm temperatures, the weather took a dip — but that didn’t stop people coming out to enjoy the day. Although it was chilly, the rain held off for most of the afternoon.
Visitors were treated to live performances from the Indie Choir and traditional Morris dancing, with plenty of smiling faces throughout the crowd. The event also featured maypole dancing, crafts, fairground rides and wartime-themed workshops.

One of the highlights of the day was a dramatic flypast organised by the RAF featuring the Red Arrows and a Lancaster bomber, with footage of the moment shared online by Harrow Council.
The aircraft passed overhead to mark the anniversary of Victory in Europe.
Dozens of stalls were on site, offering handmade crafts, gifts, and food from local vendors, with Duck Pond Market once again proving popular.

St John Ambulance volunteers were also present throughout the event, helping to ensure everyone stayed safe.
With a mix of history, entertainment and community spirit, VE Day at the Manor proved a great success — and a reminder of the lasting impact of the day 80 years ago.
