A Harrow takeaway has been given a one-star food hygiene rating following a recent inspection.
Gujju Chasko, located at Unit 2, 408 Alexandra Avenue, was inspected on 5 December 2024 by food safety officers from Harrow Council.
The rating means “major improvement is necessary”, mainly due to issues with the management of food safety. This includes checks to make sure food is safe to eat, staff knowledge of hygiene practices, and whether inspectors believe the business can maintain good standards in the future.
Despite this, the inspection found that cleanliness and condition of the building was rated as “good”, and food handling was found to be “generally satisfactory.”
According to the official listing on the Food Standards Agency website, the one-star rating reflects concerns about how food safety is managed behind the scenes.
New owner Ashish Patel told Harrow Online: “The directorship changed on 1 December 2024, but I took over the business on 15 December, after the council had already visited under the previous owner. I have since applied for a new re-score visit, but it is still pending.”
