A Chinese restaurant in Bushey has been given a low food hygiene rating following an inspection by environmental health officers.
Chikayan Chinese Restaurant, located at 27–29 High Road in Bushey Heath, received a rating of 1 out of 5 after a visit from inspectors on 11 March 2025.
According to the Food Standards Agency, improvements were found to be necessary in two key areas:
- Hygienic food handling, including how food is prepared, cooked, and stored.
- Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, such as layout, ventilation, and pest control.
The management of food safety was marked as requiring major improvement, which includes checks to ensure food is safe to eat and that staff are trained in food hygiene.
A spokesperson for the restaurant said, “At Chikayan Chinese restaurant, we take food safely and cleanliness very seriously.
“Following the inspection, immediate steps have been taken to address the issues raised, and we are working closely with the environmental health team to ensure full compliance.
“We are confident that the necessary improvement have been made and are committed to maintaining the highest standards for our customers. A reinspection is expected in the near future.”
