A swimmer from the Borough of Harrow Swimming Club has qualified for the British Summer National Championships this July in Sheffield.
Mia Garner, 14, from Northwood, will represent the club on the national stage after meeting the qualification standards for the event. She enters the competition ranked number one in the UK for her age group in the 100m backstroke.
The British Summer Nationals brings together the fastest swimmers from across the country to compete at one of the highest levels in age-group swimming. Qualification is based on national rankings and is considered a major milestone for any young swimmer.
The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club, which trains at Harrow Leisure Centre, has been part of the local sporting community for decades. It offers coaching and development from learn-to-swim levels through to competitive squads. Over the years, the club has supported numerous swimmers in reaching regional and national competitions.
Head Coach Daniel Andrawos said: “Mia has consistently shown maturity beyond her years in both training and racing. Her work ethic, focus, and drive to improve are second to none, and she thoroughly deserves this opportunity to race on the national stage.”
The club said Mia’s achievement highlights the strength of its training programme and provides inspiration for younger members.
