Claremont High School in Kenton has been rated Outstanding in every category following its latest Ofsted inspection, which took place on 25 and 26 March 2025.
The school achieved top marks for the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision.
The inspection marks the third consecutive ‘Outstanding’ rating for the school, with previous reports published in 2010 and 2015.
Executive Headteacher Nicola Hyde-Boughey, who also serves as CEO of the Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received our third consecutive ‘Outstanding’ grading from Ofsted. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students and the strong support of our parents and community. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved. It’s a moment of real pride for Claremont and reflects our continued commitment to excellence in education.”
Inspectors praised the school’s commitment to both academic success and personal development, noting: “Claremont High School successfully strives to prioritise academic excellence while fostering the development of the whole individual, preparing pupils extremely well for their future.”
Pupils were described as having “very strong attitudes to learning” and benefiting from “high-quality teaching that enables them to thrive.” The sixth form was also singled out, with students said to “excel, particularly in academic subjects.”
The school’s extensive co-curricular programme, which includes drama productions, sporting events, trips, and charity fundraising, was also recognised. The motto ‘Take part, get involved and try something new’ was noted as being “deeply embedded in its culture.”
Ofsted also highlighted strong support for students with special educational needs, stating: “Pupils with SEND achieve very well… staff are well trained to recognise needs… they adjust work to cater for pupils’ additional needs.”
The leadership team, trustees and governors were credited with maintaining consistently high standards. Inspectors stated: “Leaders, trustees and governors have a demonstrable commitment to ensuring that pupils excel, academically and personally. They expertly fulfil their respective roles and maintain robust oversight of the school’s work.”
Chair of Governors Olivia Louisy added: “On behalf of all the governors, I would like to congratulate the Executive Headteacher, senior leaders, staff and pupils of Claremont High School Academy on achieving this fantastic result!
“They have all been able to consistently uphold such high standards and this is a huge testament to the hard work and dedication put in by everyone, with the continued support of parents. I am thrilled for the school and look forward to seeing all staff and pupils continue to flourish and build on their success.”
