Transport for London (TfL) has issued advice to passengers in and around Harrow ahead of a weekend of major travel disruption affecting key routes.
Wembley Park station will be completely closed on Sunday 1 June, as Oldham Athletic take on Southend United in a football fixture at Wembley Stadium. The closure is due to planned engineering works on both the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines.
TfL has advised anyone attending Sunday’s match to travel on club-organised coaches where possible. Public transport users should arrive early and allow extra time for their journeys. Supporters are also reminded not to travel without a valid match ticket.
On Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June, the Metropolitan line will also be closed between Aldgate and Harrow-on-the-Hill, and between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Watford. This means there will be no service at several Harrow stations, including North Harrow, West Harrow, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Northwick Park, and Preston Road, throughout the weekend.
There will also be no Metropolitan line service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge until 16:00 on Saturday, with rail replacement buses in operation.
Additionally, on the Jubilee line, there will be no service between Waterloo and Stanmore after 11:00 on Saturday 31 May and all day Sunday 1 June, including Night Tube services.
TfL is encouraging all passengers in the area to plan ahead and use alternative transport options including the London Overground, Elizabeth line, or local buses. Further travel planning tools are available through the TfL Go app.
Local residents and those travelling through Harrow are urged to check before they travel and allow extra time for their journeys due to increased traffic and reduced public transport availability.
