The Mayor of London’s popular Eid on the Square celebration is set to return to Trafalgar Square on Sunday 8 June, bringing together Londoners from all backgrounds to mark Eid al-Adha.
Running from 12pm to 6pm, the free, family-friendly event will once again transform the heart of the capital with live performances, Islamic-inspired art, and food from around the world.
The event will be hosted by Deana Soni and Haroon Rashid, with main stage entertainment including Nasheed artist Mesut Kurtis, Chand Ali Khan Qawwal & Group, and the Indonesian Angklung Ensemble featuring H.E. Dr Desra Percaya. Also appearing are children’s favourites Omar & Hana, who will be available to meet and greet fans on the day.
As well as music and dance, visitors can take part in interactive workshops, including drumming, coconut leaf weaving, calligraphy and poetry, at the WAW Creative Arts Family Zone. Over at Rumi’s Cave – Spearhead Creatives, there’ll be an immersive tent featuring comedy, music and creative writing.
There will also be a pop-up Muslim Museum of Britain and guided walking tours courtesy of Halal Tourism Britain. Visitors can explore a market area with books, crafts and jewellery, while food stalls will offer dishes ranging from Afghan and Uzbek cuisine to Korean fried chicken and churros.
Prayer tents for men and women will be available on the North Terrace of Trafalgar Square, and a Quiet Zone will offer a peaceful space in the south-east corner.
The event is being delivered in partnership with the Eid Community Advisory Group.
