A long-standing paint and decorating shop on Honeypot Lane will close its doors for the final time next month after serving the local community for over three decades.
Designer Colours, a family-run store in Stanmore, will shut on 4 July 2025. The shop, which opened in the early 1990s, has been a familiar name for both retail and trade customers across Harrow and beyond, supplying paint, wallpaper and decorating advice for generations.
The business originally began in 1974 as S&S Home Supplies Ltd in a small Kingsbury shop before evolving into the brand it is today. The Stanmore branch quickly gained a loyal following, known for its expert service and family-run atmosphere.
Jay Shah, Director of Designer Colours, said: “This business started with our family in a tiny Kingsbury shop over 50 years ago. The Stanmore store, opened in the early ’90s, was where our brand Axus began and where so many customers became friends.
“While closing it is a deeply emotional decision, it also marks a new beginning. We’re grateful to every person who walked through our doors, and we look forward to welcoming you at our Mill Hill location.”
The closure of the Stanmore store marks the end of an era, but the company will continue trading from its Mill Hill branch.
A clearance sale with up to 75% off is currently running at the Honeypot Lane store ahead of its final day.
