Police have arrested a man on suspicion of burglary after officers found signs of forced entry at a property in Canons Park believed to be linked to drug use and anti-social behaviour.
Officers from Centenary, Kenton East, and Edgware wards have been patrolling the area around Canons Park Underground Station, focusing on a premises previously identified through intelligence as a location used by violent drug users. The property had been boarded up by the council.
However, during a routine patrol as part of Operation Ranger – an initiative aimed at tackling drug and weapon-related anti-social behaviour in the area – officers noticed the side entrance was open and a second rear window had been smashed.
Police entered the property and arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of burglary. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Inspector Graig Bradley of Harrow East local policing said: “These types of premises are a blight on other residents. The local ward team’s knowledge of the area has resulted in quick action to prevent further problems occurring and causing disturbance to the law-abiding local population.”
