The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that conditions have been placed on protests taking place in central London this weekend, using powers under the Public Order Act to prevent serious disruption.
A large protest is due to take place on Saturday afternoon (June 21) , organised under the banner of the Palestine Coalition. Protesters will gather in Russell Square from midday before marching to Whitehall, passing through Aldwych and the Strand. The demonstration will end with an assembly and speeches.
A separate static protest by a group called Stop the Hate — organised in opposition to the Palestine Coalition march — will take place near the junction of the Strand and Waterloo Bridge.
The Met Police said: “Anyone gathering for the Palestine Coalition protest must remain in the shaded area on the map below until the march sets off.”
“Anyone participating in the march must then remain on the agreed route shown on the map below.”

“Anyone participating in the assembly following the Palestine Coalition march must remain in the blue shaded area on the map below. The stage must be positioned in the area shown in red and the assembly must finish by 17:30hrs.”
Discussions are still ongoing regarding the exact conditions for the Stop the Hate protest, and the Met say updates will follow once these have been confirmed.
