Harrow Council is calling on local businesses and organisations to sign up as Safe Havens to help protect people who may feel threatened or vulnerable while out in public.
There are currently 14 locations across the borough, including places like Waitrose in Harrow Weald and Greenhill Library.
Safe Havens are local places where people can go if they’re feeling unsafe or worried while out in public. Staff are there to offer help, whether that’s calling a friend, offering a quiet space, or contacting emergency services if needed.
The aim is to give people somewhere they know they’ll be supported. It’s a simple idea that can make a big difference, especially for women and girls walking alone. Each venue is clearly marked and open during its usual hours.
The council says expanding the network is one of its key priorities this year, and more local venues are needed to help create a safer Harrow for everyone.
If you’re a business or organisation based in Harrow and want to get involved, you can register your interest to become a Safe Haven by completing a short form online.
