More details have come to light after a fire broke out at a takeaway restaurant on Wealdstone High Street yesterday afternoon (Friday, 4 July).
Harrow Online has received additional footage showing the blaze at the rear of the premises, which caused significant smoke to drift over the area while firefighters worked to bring it under control.
A member of the public who was at the scene told Harrow Online, “We had to leave because of the amount of smoke. There were lots of people gathering round in the street watching the fire and all the emergency services.”
They added, “The fire brigade did such a good job of handling the situation quickly and efficiently. The police also did a great job controlling the traffic and speaking to concerned residents.”

The fire was reported just before 3pm, and four fire engines attended along with multiple emergency service crews. Roads were closed in the area while the incident was dealt with.
The London Fire Brigade confirmed the fire was located in an outbuilding behind the commercial units with flats above. Crews from Harrow, Wembley and Mill Hill had the fire under control by around 4:30pm.
