Officers on patrol in Harrow Town Centre arrested a man who was reportedly threatening people with a metal pole on Tuesday, 1 July.
The incident happened on College Road while Greenhill and Marlborough Neighbourhood Policing Teams were out as part of Operation Ashlar, a dedicated operation aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour and violence over the summer months.
Police said officers spotted the suspect holding the pole and threatening members of the public. The man then ran into a nearby block of flats.
With the help of the Emergency Response Team, officers entered the building and arrested the suspect without further incident. A metal pole was recovered at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Thanks to the swift intervention of our officers no members of the public were hurt, and the suspect was conveyed to custody.”
