Last week’s Drop and Go event in Belmont collected 4.7 tonnes of waste and recycling. Residents also donated 293.5kg of unwanted clothes and shoes to TRAID.
The recycling team was on hand to give advice, sign people up for garden waste collections, and hand out food waste caddies.
In a video shared by the council, Cllr Stephen Greek, Cabinet Member for Performance, Communications and Customer Experience, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended.”
Drop and Go events are held to bring waste services closer to residents. The council has encouraged people to look out for details of the next event on its website.
People who need to get rid of bulky items are reminded about the free annual collection service. The council has doubled the number of booking slots to help make collections quicker.
