Thousands of children in Harrow to benefit from free holiday clubs this summer

Thousands of children across Harrow will have access to free holiday club places this summer as part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme.

The scheme is now open for bookings and offers a range of fun activities and free meals for children from Reception to Year 11 who receive means-tested Free School Meals.

Thanks to support from the DVS Foundation, extra places are also available for families who may not meet the official criteria but are facing other challenges.

Funded by the Department for Education and delivered by Harrow Council in partnership with Young Harrow Foundation, the programme will run throughout the school summer holidays.

Activities on offer include football, cooking, drama, dance, gymnastics, forest school, music, creative arts and more. All sessions include a hot, healthy meal and are delivered by trusted local organisations in safe and welcoming venues across the borough.

Dan Burke, CEO of Young Harrow Foundation, said: “The summer holidays should be something every child can look forward to. HAF gives them a space to be active, try new things and enjoy a meal with friends, all at no cost to eligible families. We’re excited to bring it back for another summer.”

Cllr Hitesh Karia, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “I am committed to supporting families and young people – it’s a key priority for us. That’s why I am delighted that the HAF programme is back again this summer. It’s been running in Harrow for a few years now, and is a fantastic way to ensure that every child, no matter their background, has the chance to enjoy the school holidays, stay active, and connect with their community. By working together with Harrow Young Foundation, we’re putting our residents first and supporting those in need of help.”

Spaces are limited and families are encouraged to book early.
