Emergency services rushed to Uxbridge Road in Stanmore early this morning (18 July) after a water main burst, causing widespread flooding and damage.
The incident occurred at around 5am near the junction with Masefield Avenue and led to Uxbridge Road being blocked in both directions. Images and footage sent to Harrow Online show the extent of the flooding, with water pouring into residents’ gardens and causing significant damage to the street and footpaths.

London Fire Brigade remains on the scene. A spokesperson said, “We were called at 0419 to reports of a burst water main near Uxbridge Road in Stanmore. Firefighters attended and discovered flooding in the street which was also affecting multiple properties. The Brigade helped to make the scene safe and supported partners at the scene. Two fire engines from Stanmore Fire Station attended.”
Harrow Council confirmed the scale of the damage in an update: “Stanmore burst water mains: Update. There is significant damage to the road and footways caused by a burst water main. Our engineers are on site with the London Fire Brigade and Affinity Water. Repairs to this will be carried out as soon as our partners Affinity Water have fixed the burst water mains.

“Road closures are in place, please follow diversions. Some residents may have missed bin collections due to the closures. We are waiting for further information to assess the situation and an update will be provided on when services will resume.”
Transport for London confirmed that bus routes 340 and H12 are currently being diverted due to the road closure.

Residents and motorists are being advised to avoid the area, with long delays expected throughout the day. Harrow Online has approached Affinity Water for a statement. Further updates can be found on their website: Affinity Water Alerts.
