Roxbourne Labour councillors have announced the installation of new playground equipment at Newton Park West after securing over £55,000 through ward NCIL (Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy) funding.
The investment includes a swing set, climbing frame and see-saw, with the aim of encouraging families to use the park more often. The councillors said the new facilities are intended to improve mental and physical wellbeing for families in the area.
Cllr Maxine Henson said: “I am thrilled to announce the construction of new playground equipment in Newton Park West which will make the park more attractive to local residents and families alike. Levels of mental and physical health are both declining in Harrow at the moment, and young families need all the support they can get – so we are glad to be supporting our residents by providing this play equipment to give kids a chance to play and socialise while their parents relax on nearby picnic benches.

“As the local ward Councillors, we will continue working with local residents seeking long term improvements to the park and ponds, turning this once-neglected space into an attractive and welcoming park for all.”
The councillors said residents are keeping a close eye on the installation, with children in the area expected to begin using the new play area in the coming weeks.
