A dead dog left inside a reusable shopping bag outside the old Safari Cinema on Station Road in Harrow has sparked outrage among local residents.
The disturbing discovery, made near the corner of High Mead, was shared on community platform Nextdoor, prompting dozens of shocked responses. A local resident reported finding the small dog inside what appeared to be a bag for life, and quickly contacted the dog warden to collect the animal.
One person wrote: “Whoever left a dead dog outside the old safari cinema in a bag for life style bag, you really are a heartless cruel person.” They added: “Your dog is now with the dog warden who will likely and hopefully be more humane with its burial.”
Photos posted online showed the animal lying inside the bag. A child is said to have made the discovery, with some commenters expressing anger that so many people may have walked past without taking action.
Another comment read: “It’s disgusting that we have such vile people living amongst us. One way or another, karma will catch up with them.”
Further details revealed the dog was small, with gingery-blonde fur and black markings. According to a family member who looked inside the bag, there was visible blood on the dog’s head and leaves had been placed inside, raising concerns about possible mistreatment.
Some suggested the dog may have been involved in a hit-and-run, while others called for the RSPCA to investigate and for police to check CCTV in the area. One person questioned why the individual responsible didn’t simply call the dog warden themselves.
Several commenters encouraged registering the animal on doglost.co.uk in case it had been stolen, and expressed hope that the microchip, if present, could help trace its owner.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA or call police on 101.
