Affinity Water has confirmed that all customers are now back on supply following the burst water main on The Highway in Stanmore, which caused major flooding on Thursday (24 July).
In a new update issued this morning (Friday, 25 July), the water company said engineers worked overnight to isolate the burst and put a rezone in place. However, road closures remain in effect due to debris and damage from the flooding.
As of this morning, The Highway, Kenton Lane, and the eastbound side of College Hill Road are all closed. Affinity Water has advised that The Highway is likely to remain closed for around a week while pipe repairs and full reinstatement of the road are completed.
Bus routes in the area are still being diverted. Passengers are advised to check the latest travel information at: https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/status/
The incident affected multiple streets near the Duck in the Pond pub, with water entering both homes and businesses. Firefighters and emergency crews were at the scene for much of Thursday.
One local resident told Harrow Online, “The firefighters are being very responsive and good with this. They’re helping a lady across and carrying her shopping for her.”
Affinity Water said in their latest update: “We’re sorry about any delays this may cause, and we’re doing everything we can to get this back to normal as quickly as possible.”
