Firefighters were called out to a block of flats on College Road in Harrow last night (Sunday, 3 August) after reports of smoke and electricity arcing caused by flooding. Arcing is when electricity jumps or sparks between wires or equipment, often creating flashes of light and a crackling sound.
One member of Harrow Online said they saw “at least 4 fire engines spotted outside Harrow on the Hill station – big response to possibly a building fire or alarm.”

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said, “Firefighters responded to reports of smoke and electricity arcing following flooding at a block of flats on College Road in Harrow.
“Control Officers mobilised firefighters from Harrow, Northolt, Wembley and Stanmore fire stations to the scene. The Brigade was called at 2304 (03/08) and the incident was over at 2333.”
