Harrow Town Centre will host a Summer Fun Day on Saturday, 23 August, as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations for the London Borough of Harrow. The event is being run by Harrow BID in partnership with Harrow Council and will take place across St Anns Road and Greenhill Place.
Along St Anns Road, there will be a range of market stalls selling both food and non-food items. At Greenhill Place, activities will include free face painting, balloon modelling, Punch & Judy shows, live music, birds of prey, installations and walkabout entertainers.
Face painter Maggie and her partner will be offering free face painting for children from 11am to 4pm. Designs range from flowers, superheroes and unicorns to dinosaurs.
Auntie JoJo will be at the event from 11am to 4pm, providing balloon modelling for all ages. She will have a trolley filled with balloons and a selection board for people to choose designs, including butterflies, monkeys, ladybirds, dinosaurs, penguins, flowers and wearable balloon creations.
Punch & Judy shows will be performed at 12:30pm, 2pm and 4pm. The centuries-old puppet show features Mr. Punch and his wife Judy in slapstick storylines involving various characters, including a crocodile and a policeman.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, visitors can contribute to a giant birthday card for the borough from 11am to 5pm. People are invited to colour in, create illustrations, share memories, and celebrate their connection to Harrow. Once completed, the card will be displayed as a lasting tribute.
From 11am to 3pm, there will also be an interactive installation featuring George the Dragon. The 12-foot wooden dragon plays music, blows bubbles, and showcases mechanical engineering when visitors operate its handles.
More details, including exact locations and timings, can be found on the Harrow Town Centre website.
