A well-known grassroots football club in Harrow has marked its 80th anniversary with a special celebration at the John Rumney Playing Fields.
Parkfield Youth Football Club, founded in 1945, has been part of our local sporting community for generations. The club runs an academy and fields multiple squads from ages five to 16, competing in the Harrow Youth League. Over the years, a number of its players have gone on to play in the Premier League and at international level.

Former managers, players, officials and fans joined together for the anniversary event, which featured a veteran team exhibition match, medal presentations and speeches from Club Chairman Ali Jobe. The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Anjana Patel, also attended the celebrations.
As sponsors of the U12 home and away kit this season, store directors Adam Shackle and Tejal Sheth from Specsavers Harrow, Harrow Weald and Pinner supported the day with an information stand, offering advice on eye and ear health.

Retail director Adam, himself a passionate football supporter, said: “It’s an honour to be part of these momentous celebrations. The club has established a presence in the Harrow Youth League over the years.
“It’s a real accolade to the teams, officials, support staff and coaches to have maintained such a high standard of football.
“We’re delighted to support the raffle with our donation of a pair of glasses to the value of £130 and a free sight test – valid at both our Harrow and Harrow Weald stores. All the funds raised will be going towards supporting the club and its facilities.”

Following the formalities, guests and visitors enjoyed the party atmosphere, marking a major milestone in the club’s history.
Parkfield is an FA Charter Standard Youth Football Club with teams ranging from Under 7 to Under 16 years old, continuing its long tradition of developing young talent in the borough.
