A prolific shoplifter has been jailed after being arrested by officers on patrol in Harrow Town Centre.
On Monday 11th August 2025, officers from Greenhill Safer Neighbourhoods Team detained the suspect, who had been linked to three previous thefts in the town centre. The individual had stolen more than £400 worth of items in quick succession and was also found to have breached the conditions of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Following swift intervention from officers and an initial investigation, which included reviewing CCTV footage and taking witness statements, the suspect was charged and later found guilty on all counts in court. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a £154 surcharge.
Police confirmed they will continue to work with Harrow BID and local businesses across the town centre to tackle shoplifting.
Greenhill’s local policing team will also be holding a series of community events later this month, giving residents a chance to meet officers and discuss concerns:
- Friday 22nd August – Coffee with a Copper, McDonald’s, Station Road (3pm–4pm)
- Saturday 23rd August – Met Engage Event, Greenhill Place, St John’s Road (12pm–4pm)
- Sunday 24th August – Violence Against Women & Girls crime prevention stall, St Anns Shopping Centre (12.30pm–1.30pm)
