Firefighters were called to The Star Pub in South Harrow this morning (Thursday, 21 August) after a fire broke out in the basement.
The pub will likely remain closed today and reopen tomorrow.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said, “Firefighters were called to a pub fire on South Hill Avenue in South Harrow this morning.
“Part of the basement of the pub was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus assisted a man to safety via an internal staircase who was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
“The Brigade was called at 1107 and the fire was under control by 1200. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Northolt, Harrow and Stanmore fire stations attended the scene.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
Management at the pub were said to be very impressed by the local fire services and how swiftly they dealt with the issue.
