Harrow Council has provided an update on its road resurfacing programme, which is part of a £42 million investment to improve the borough’s roads over three years.
The programme includes full resurfacing, patching, and pothole and defect repairs. Since April, more than 45 roads and pavements have been resurfaced, and over 4,000 potholes and defects repaired.
The council has also introduced new technology to speed up and strengthen repairs, including the JCB Pothole Pro – with Harrow being the only London borough to use the machine – and a Thermal Repair machine. To help reduce disruption, much of the work is being carried out overnight.
Cllr David Ashton, Cabinet Member for Finance and Highways, said: “We know how frustrating potholes and road defects can be, and that’s why we’re taking action to repair them. Our £42 million investment over three years is already making a real difference across Harrow.”
He added: “To make things easier for residents, we’re doing work at night time to be able to ensure traffic is not affected.”
The council said that while there is still more work to do, the programme is already helping to improve road conditions across the borough.
