Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn MP will be in Harrow this week for the launch of Arise, a new political party formed by local campaigners and residents.
The event takes place at Victoria Hall, Sheepcote Road, on Wednesday 27 August at 7.15pm.
Other speakers include Pamela Fitzpatrick, founder of Harrow Law Centre, Aghileh Djafari Marbini, founder of Wealdstone Baby Bank, Dr Muhammad Asaria, an NHS emergency medicine consultant, and Jared Woods, a London Transport regional organiser. The evening will be chaired by Paul Crimmins.
Arise says its priorities include tackling housing pressures, improving community spaces, addressing poverty, and taking a public health approach to crime and antisocial behaviour.
Their website states, “We are dedicated to addressing the systemic challenges facing Harrow. Our policies focus on creating a fairer, more supportive community where everyone can thrive. Explore our key priorities below and join us in building a community that serves the needs of the people.”
More details about the party and its aims can be found at ariseparty.org.uk.
