Harrow residents will be able to see a rare Super Blood Moon tonight (Sunday, 7 September 2025). The lunar eclipse started at around 7:30pm and the Moon will glow a deep red throughout the evening.
The best chance to see it is from high ground or open fields with a clear view of the eastern horizon. In Harrow, some of the top spots include:
- Harrow Viewpoint (Old Redding) – one of the most popular places for stargazing, but the car park is closed. People heading up are advised to go on foot.
- St George’s shopping centre car park (top level) – gives a clear, open view from the town centre.
- Stanmore Hill / Grim’s Ditch – another high spot with wide views over London.
- The Grove Field, Lowlands Road – a large open space close to Harrow town centre, good for an unobstructed view.
Experts say you don’t need any special equipment to see the Blood Moon, and it is safe to watch with the naked eye.
If you are planning to go out tonight, arrive early, wrap up warm and try to find somewhere high up or open, away from streetlights, for the clearest view.
