Harrow police have arrested a man wanted for rape after spotting him behaving suspiciously in Edgware.
Neighbourhood officers from the Centenary Patrol Base, covering Edgware, Kenton East and Centenary wards, were carrying out mobile patrols in the area around Stag Lane, off Burnt Oak Broadway, where there have recently been reports of anti-social behaviour.
Police said the man was seen ‘acting suspiciously’ before officers engaged with him and carried out checks on the Police National Computer, which revealed he was wanted for rape by Humberside Police.
He was taken to a north London police station, where he is being processed.
Insp Graig Bradley said: “This shows the value of local knowledge and proactively patrolling areas that the community highlight as areas of concern, an excellent proactive arrest by the officers.”
