Large amounts of dumped waste have been spotted behind a row of shops in Harrow Weald, with business owners calling for immediate action to clear the mess.
Items discarded on the site include mattresses, household waste, and what appears to be burned rubbish. The scene has been described as an eyesore that needs immediate attention.
One local business owner says that rubbish and construction materials have repeatedly been left behind a neighbouring shop, blocking access to the rear of his own premises. He claims the build-up has continued despite multiple complaints and that it poses a hygiene risk to both staff and customers, particularly as he runs a food business.
Photographic evidence has been submitted, and he is now calling for urgent action to resolve the issue.
The same business owner contacted Harrow Online to raise concerns about the growing pile of waste, which has reportedly been building up for months. “I have reported this several times to the police and Harrow Council, but no action has been taken. I even cleaned the area using my own money.”
A spokesperson for Harrow Council said, “Like our residents, we want a clean and safe borough. There are no excuses for fly-tipping in Harrow and we take our responsibility to maintain public spaces seriously. However, this area in question is private land and the responsibility is for the landlords to clear. We are working with them to have the mess removed, and will take the necessary enforcement actions needed if this is not done soon.”
