A man has been found guilty after assaulting a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) during patrols on Wealdstone High Street earlier this year.
On 8 March 2025, PCSOs from the Wealdstone South Safer Neighbourhood Team were carrying out hotspot patrols to tackle anti-social behaviour and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
While on patrol, officers saw a man sitting on a wall outside Holy Trinity Church on Wealdstone High Street. The area is covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) that bans drinking alcohol in public. Officers said the man appeared to be consuming alcohol and moved to take the open can away from him.
During this, one of the PCSOs was assaulted.
Local officers arrived quickly and arrested the man on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
He was later charged with assault by beating. After a trial at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on 28 November 2025, he was found guilty and given a one-year conditional discharge along with a £326 fine.
Police say the incident shows the risks frontline officers face while working to keep the public safe in Wealdstone.
