A prolific shoplifter was arrested in Pinner on Saturday, 6 December, after officers from the Pinner Safer Neighbourhood Team made a significant catch during Operation Auralith, a proactive initiative targeting shoplifting in the area.
PCSO Chibou was on foot patrol, speaking with local businesses and offering crime prevention advice, when he saw a man running down the High Street carrying a large shopping bag. He chased and detained the man, who was found with hundreds of pounds worth of electrical items stolen from Boots, many of them still with security tags attached.
Additional officers arrived soon after and arrested the man for shoplifting. Further enquiries by PS Bridges and PCSO O’Brien, including CCTV checks, linked him to several other offences. The suspect initially gave false details, but officers later confirmed his identity and found he was also wanted for an outstanding court matter.
PS Beckie Bridges said: “This excellent outcome highlights the quick thinking and teamwork of our officers. The Pinner Safer Neighbourhood Team remains committed to tackling the rise in shoplifting and keeping our community safe”.
