A man has been arrested after police found him sitting in a running car with a bottle of whiskey during winter drink drive patrols in South Harrow.
On Sunday 21 December 2025, officers were carrying out proactive patrols as part of the Winter Drink Drive Campaign when they were called to the car park at Roxeth Recreation Ground following reports of people drinking in the area.
When officers arrived, they found a man inside a vehicle with the engine running and a bottle of whiskey present. He was asked to provide a breath sample but refused.
The man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle. At the police station, he later blew over the legal alcohol limit.
He has since been charged and bailed to appear in court.
Police are reminding drivers that drink driving puts lives at risk and can have serious consequences. The Winter Drink Drive Campaign is aimed at keeping roads safe during the festive period.
