The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) remains active in Harrow as freezing temperatures continue across the borough.
The council activated SWEP on Thursday 2 January, and the latest forecast from the Met Office shows cold conditions persisting.
Today, Sunday 4 January, temperatures in Harrow are expected to reach around 3°C, with lows dropping to -3°C overnight. The cold spell is set to continue into the start of the week, with overnight temperatures forecast to fall as low as -4°C on Monday, before a gradual rise later in the week.
While SWEP is in place, anyone sleeping rough in Harrow will be offered shelter or temporary accommodation, regardless of their immigration status.
Residents who see or believe someone is sleeping rough are being urged to report it so help can be provided. During office hours, the council’s Homelessness team can be contacted on 020 8424 1093.
Outside office hours, reports can be made via Streetlink or through the council’s online reporting form. The council has asked people to give as much detail as possible about the person and their location. If someone appears to be in immediate danger or needs urgent medical care, residents should call 999.
Harrow is also operating Warm Hubs during the cold weather. These provide safe indoor spaces where residents can find warmth, a hot drink and company during freezing conditions.
