A residential flat in Rayners Lane has been shut down after concerns raised by people living in the building.
The flat, in Imperial Drive, Harrow, was closed following an investigation by the North Harrow and Pinner policing teams.
Residents of Broad House reported unusual activity inside one of the flats. Officers carried out enquiries and visited the address to check on the welfare of anyone inside.
That visit confirmed the flat was being used as a brothel.
Police then traced the owner and gathered further evidence. Working with the building’s managing agent, officers identified the owner of the flat, who did not assist with the investigation.
Despite this, police continued building the case and on Thursday 8 January issued a Closure Notice under Part 2A of the Sexual Offences Act.
The following day, Friday 10 January, Willesden Magistrates’ Court granted a full Closure Order. Officers returned to the property, confirmed it had been vacated and secured it. The flat will now remain closed for three months.
Police say the action shows the importance of residents reporting concerns.
Sergeant Bridges said: “Residents did exactly the right thing by sharing their concerns with us. This closure reflects our commitment to acting quickly, protecting vulnerable people, and keeping our neighbourhoods safe.”
The North Harrow local policing team says it will continue working with partners and residents to prevent similar issues and keep the area safe.
