A large fly-tip has been dumped on land at Marsh Lane in Stanmore, which is due to be developed into a new Aldi store.
Harrow Online has received reports from local residents who say vans were seen unloading large amounts of rubbish late on Friday night, 9 January. The news comes just days after another major dumping incident behind Stanmore Library was reported by Harrow Online.
Images and footage show piles of dumped waste covering parts of the site.
The land is believed to be owned by Aldi and is earmarked for a new supermarket development. Harrow Council has described the incident as one of the worst fly-tipping cases seen in the borough.

A Harrow Council spokesperson said, “This is one of the worst cases of criminal fly-tipping that’s taken place in our borough. Although the crime has occurred on private land, we are working with the landowner, Police, Environment Agency, and neighbouring boroughs to investigate. The landowner has secured the site, and a Community Protection Warning will be served to ensure the rubbish is cleared.
“Our enforcement officers are continuing to investigate the waste for evidence with a view to prosecute those responsible. They’ve already found substantial evidence linking to various properties. People may may have paid rogue traders to dispose of waste illegally. Our message to residents is clear – only use licensed waste carriers. If you don’t, you could face a £600 fine—and risk being linked to criminal activity.”

Aldi said it is aware of fly-tipping at multiple sites in the local area and confirmed it is working with a contractor to clear the Marsh Lane site and has instructed additional security. The company also said Cadent Gas continues to operate on the land.
