Plans have been submitted to demolish the building at 226–228 Kenton Road and replace it with a new 26-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO).
The site was previously occupied by the solicitors’ firm, which has since relocated, leaving the building vacant. The property was originally a pair of semi-detached houses that were later converted into a commercial office building, with parking and storage units at the rear.
Under the proposal, the existing building would be demolished and replaced with a four-storey development, made up of a basement, ground floor, first floor and rooms within the roof space.
The basement would include shared facilities such as a large kitchen and dining area, games room and communal washing facilities. The upper floors would provide 26 single-occupancy bedrooms, each with its own en-suite.
To the rear of the site, the plans show three parking spaces, 28 cycle spaces, refuse storage and landscaped areas. A small landscaped frontage would also be created along Kenton Road.
Planning documents describe the scheme as a major development because of its size and number of residents. The total cost of the project is estimated at up to £2 million, with construction expected to run from May 2026 to May 2027 if approved.
The application has been submitted by Vish Palasuntheram, with DLA Town Planning Ltd acting as planning agent. Harrow Council is currently considering the plans under reference PL/2887/25.
