Harrow contestant joins 20th series of The Apprentice

A contestant from Harrow will appear on the landmark 20th series of The Apprentice, as 20 candidates compete for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment and mentorship.

The new series begins with a first for the show, as the opening task takes place in Hong Kong, with the boardroom temporarily relocating overseas. Lord Sugar is again joined by his advisors Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell, who will help narrow the field across 12 episodes.

This year’s tasks span London and beyond, testing candidates on branding, selling and negotiation. Challenges include a buying task, creating a children’s book, selling live on television and hosting a corporate away day on the Red Sea in El Gouna, Egypt, before interviews week, where the final five face intense scrutiny of their business plans.

The show remains one of the most watched on TV, with series 19 averaging more than six million viewers per episode. As Lord Sugar says: “just because we have been doing this for a while, doesn’t mean you know what is coming next. Let me tell you, you don’t.”

Representing Harrow this year is Global Account Manager Priyesh Bathia, who is hoping to scale his mobile cocktail business.

He said: “My business plan is to transform Boozy Bar, a small mobile cocktail bar business, into a scalable national brand. I would also like to develop a Ready-to-Drink (RTD) cocktail and mocktail product line to be launched on supermarkets shelves, inspired by flavours from Asia and the success of BuzzBallz.”

On what sets him apart, Priyesh added: “I’m the perfect mix of charm and hustle who’s confident, quick-thinking, and not afraid to get stuck in. I bring ideas, energy, and a bit of cheek, which means I don’t just talk the talk, I make things happen.”

He believes the investment could take the business to the next level, saying: “With the investment and Lord Sugar’s know-how, Boozy Bar can pivot into a high-growth business. This dual model will create multiple revenue streams, smoothing out seasonality and vastly increasing the addressable market.”

Tune in Tuesday 29th January at 9pm on BBC One to see how Priyesh does!
