North Harrow residents will be able to clear out bulky items and unwanted waste this coming weekend as a community ‘Drop and Go’ collection comes to the area.
The event will take place at Cambridge Road Car Park on Saturday 31 January, running from 9am to 1pm.
Households can bring up to five items, with recycling officers on site to offer advice and answer questions. Free food waste caddies and liners will also be available, and residents are reminded to bring proof of ID.
The Drop and Go events have proved extremely successful in other parts of the borough and have been popular with residents, helping people get rid of items that cannot go in normal bins while also cutting down on fly-tipping.
What you can bring
- Small electrical items such as toasters, kettles, laptops and TVs
- Bulky items including furniture, mattresses and carpets
- Household items that do not fit in normal bins, such as broken toys, DIY waste, wood, glass and textiles
- Scrap metal and old tools
- Garden items, furniture, equipment and toys
What cannot be accepted
- General household rubbish that fits in normal bins
- Hazardous waste including paint, chemicals, asbestos, petrol or diesel
- Car parts or tyres
- Pressurised containers
