Residents across Queensbury and Harrow were celebrating after India defeated New Zealand to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
India secured the title with a 96-run victory in the final, marking back-to-back wins in the tournament.
The result sparked celebrations across India, where supporters gathered in cities and neighbourhoods across the country late into the night. Videos shared online showed crowds waving flags, setting off fireworks and cheering as the result came in marking the double victory.
Similar scenes were seen locally. In Queensbury, residents gathered near the London Underground station and along the surrounding roads to celebrate the win.
Some fans were seen climbing onto the Queensbury station roundabout sign platform while others waved flags, sounded car horns and cheered as passing vehicles joined in the celebrations.
Cricket remains hugely popular within many local communities in Harrow and the surrounding areas, and the victory was described by supporters as a proud moment for India on the world stage.
