Harrow has been awarded £1.724m in funding from Transport for London (TfL) to support safer, greener and more accessible streets across the borough.
The funding forms part of a £94.8m package being distributed to all 32 London boroughs and the City of London for 2026/27, marking the second year of a three-year programme.
TfL says the investment will help boroughs deliver projects including new cycle routes, School Streets and pedestrian crossings, as well as measures to reduce road danger and improve bus journeys.
Across London, the funding will support borough-led schemes on local roads, with TfL working alongside councils to improve transport networks.
A wider report published alongside the announcement highlights what has already been delivered across the capital in the past three years, including 147km of new or upgraded cycle routes and nearly 400 new pedestrian crossings.
This year’s funding will also contribute towards the Mayor of London’s Vision Zero strategy, which aims to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries from London’s transport network by 2041.
London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, Will Norman said: “I am thrilled that another round of funding has been awarded to boroughs as part of our three-year programme to make London’s streets greener and safer. We have already seen the transformative impact of new cycleways, expanded School Streets, and lower speed limits helping to reduce road danger across the city.
“This next round of funding will enable boroughs to build on that progress, while supporting the Mayor’s Vision Zero strategy to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries from London’s transport network by 2041. Investment in transport infrastructure and safer streets is vital to boosting walking and cycling making London greener, safer, and fairer for everyone.”

This sits alongside our own significant investment, with £16m spent on road resurfacing this year alone as part of a four year £56m investment, ensuring our network is safer, smoother and more reliable for everyone who lives, works or travels through the borough.”
