Stanmore restaurant’s hygiene rating upgraded from 1 to 4 after reinspection

A restaurant in Stanmore has had its food hygiene rating upgraded following a reinspection by Harrow Council.

Spice Rack, on Church Road, was previously given a Food Hygiene Rating of 1 (Major Improvement Necessary) after an inspection on 4 March 2026.

However, following a revisit on 10 April 2026, the rating has now been increased to 4 (Good), according to the Food Standards Agency website.

The initial rating meant inspectors had identified issues requiring significant improvement at the time. The report stated that food hygiene and safety was “generally satisfactory” and structural compliance was “good”, but confidence in management was rated as “major improvement necessary”.

The business said the issues raised related to management procedures and paperwork rather than cleanliness or food hygiene, and that steps had been taken to address them.

Food hygiene ratings are given following inspections by the local authority and range from 0 (urgent improvement necessary) to 5 (very good).

Harrow Online will continue to follow this story.
