Planned tube strikes that were expected to cause major disruption across London this week have been suspended following late talks between the RMT union and Transport for London.
Drivers had been due to walk out for 24 hours on Tuesday and Thursday, with disruption expected to continue for several days across the network.
The action would have affected several parts of the Underground, including the Circle and Piccadilly lines, while Metropolitan line services between Baker Street and Aldgate were also expected to be disrupted.
That would likely have had a knock-on impact for commuters travelling from Harrow stations including Harrow-on-the-Hill station, North Harrow station, Pinner station, Rayners Lane station and Northwick Park station.
The dispute centres around proposed roster changes and concerns raised by drivers over fatigue, safety and the possible introduction of a four-day working week with condensed hours.
In a statement released on Monday, the RMT said discussions with TfL had led to enough progress for this week’s action to be paused while further talks continue.
TfL described the suspension of the strikes as “good news for London”.
However, the union warned the dispute has not yet been resolved and future industrial action could still take place if an agreement is not reached.
Fresh strike dates have already been announced for early June.
While the tube strikes have now been suspended, separate strike action involving TfL bus controllers and network traffic controllers is still currently expected to go ahead later this week.
