A 29-year-old man has died after a car collided with a tree on Eastcote Lane in the early hours of this morning (Friday 22 May), police have confirmed.
The crash happened near the Field End Road roundabout at around 2.40am, with residents reporting a large emergency service response between 3am and 4am, including numerous police vehicles and ambulances.
A blue forensic tent could also be seen on the roundabout alongside a damaged vehicle, with the entire area cordoned off.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Friday, 22 May at 02:40hrs, Met officers responded to reports of a collision between a car and a tree on Eastcote Lane, South Harrow.
“Officers attended alongside the London Fire Brigade, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
“Prior to the incident, police on patrol became aware of a car travelling along Eastcote Lane at speed in the opposite direction. They took initial steps to catch up with the vehicle which subsequently collided with a tree.
“Three men were assessed and treated at the scene by paramedics. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, a 29-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“The remaining two – aged 25 and in their 20s – were taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment. Their injuries have been declared as non-life-threatening.
“Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the collision continue and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting CAD716/22MAY26. Alternatively, you can call the North Serious Collision Investigation Unit witness line on 0207 960 8044.”
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 2.42am today (22 May) to reports of a road traffic collision on Eastcote Lane.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, advanced paramedics, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and crews from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated three people and took two to a major trauma centre. Sadly, despite best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
