A prolific fraud offender has been jailed after Harrow police reopened an earlier investigation linked to the misuse of a stolen bank card in Wealdstone.
Officers revisited the case after gathering fresh evidence relating to the unauthorised use of the card and the theft of a large amount of money.
Police worked with local businesses and carried out checks across several retail premises in an effort to track the suspect’s movements. Officers reviewed CCTV footage and retraced where the suspect had been before identifying and arresting them.
The investigation led to the suspect being charged with seven counts of fraud.
The case was later concluded at court, where the offender was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, along with an additional two weeks for failing to attend a previous hearing. Police said the individual was known locally for repeated offending.
Acting Sergeant Alex Rose said: “This result shows how determined we are to cut crime and deal with those who repeatedly target our communities. By carrying out thorough investigations and working closely with local businesses and residents, we can identify offenders quickly and take action. Our focus is on protecting Harrow’s communities, building trust in our proactive, local policing methods, and holding those responsible to account.”
