Waitrose appears to have come out on top after Harrow Online asked readers which supermarket in and around Harrow they think is the best overall.
The question sparked dozens of responses on the socials, with people judging stores on everything from prices and parking to staff, quality and product range.
Waitrose stores in Harrow Weald and South Harrow were mentioned repeatedly, with many readers praising the staff and quality of food.
Georgia Georgia said: “Waitrose in Harrow Weald. It’s nice and small, the staff are fantastic. Free parking on site.”
Dona Gondwe wrote: “Waitrose Harrow Weald. Every time. Excellent produce, excellent staff.”
Linda Rosa Hillier added: “Waitrose in South Harrow – lovely people and quality goods.”
David Flack simply said: “Waitrose South Harrow.”
Julianpruce Prus commented: “Waitrose easily.”
Others highlighted Tesco stores across the borough, especially the Station Road superstore and Tesco Pinner Green.
Julie Berry said: “I like Tesco Station Road, the superstore. Lovely staff but prices are getting out of control. Same everywhere I guess.”
Gwen Crick wrote: “Tesco Station Road – friendly staff in store and the Tesco phone shop.”
Henri Henriques said: “Tesco Pinner Green best store for standards, availability, cleanliness, friendly staff and good parking too.”
Aaron Atkinson also praised Waitrose South Harrow and M&S Pinner, saying: “Waitrose South Harrow and M&S Pinner are great. You can get fresh raw sauerkraut in Waitrose and the meat and deli selection is on point.”
Amit Mishra replied: “Definitely spot on with those two picks. But Tesco in Pinner plays the best tunes.”
Discount supermarkets also received plenty of support.
Jo Langford said: “You can’t beat Lidl and I find their meat great.”
Anikó Pásztor wrote: “Lidl at Harrow Weald. Sadly the one in town centre, which is nearest to me, is badly managed though. Do love the new Iceland too.”
Morrisons also had loyal supporters.
Mandy Douch said: “Morrisons Hatch End. We get on with most of the staff, like the 3 for £10 on meat or fish as we cook fresh, and the veg and fruit stay fresh for ages.”
Michelle Collins-Betz added: “Morrisons. I don’t know which one delivers my food order but I do like Asda, Aldi and Lidl.”
Some readers also gave mentions to stores just outside Harrow, including Asda Colindale and Sainsbury’s Stanmore.
Patricia Bradshaw said: “Asda Colindale, always!”
Maria Segovia wrote: “Sainsbury’s in Stanmore. Even though it’s not in Harrow, it’s near Harrow. Maybe we could do with a Sainsbury’s in Harrow.”
There was even some nostalgia in the comments, with Hiten Shah saying: “Safeway before the area changed!”
Independent stores also got recognition from readers.
Devendra Vora said: “VB and Sons is the best.”
Obaidullah Miakhel praised Home Fix (in Harrow Weald) for its value and range of DIY products.
