Parents and carers in Harrow can get their child’s car seat checked for free at an event this week.
The free safety check will take place on Thursday, 4 June, from 10am to 3pm at Tesco Car Park on Station Road, Harrow.
The event is being promoted by Harrow Council and run with Good Egg Safety, giving families the chance to make sure their child’s seat is fitted properly and safely.
Child car seats can be difficult to install correctly, and mistakes are common. Good Egg Safety says its checks of more than 45,000 child restraints found that more than 60% were either incorrectly fitted or incompatible. Some errors can seriously reduce how well a seat protects a child in a collision.
Guidance shared through Good Egg Safety also states that more than 4,250 babies and children are killed or injured in vehicles every year, showing why regular checks are important.
The check only takes a short time and can help parents and carers spot issues such as loose fitting, incorrect seatbelt routing, unsuitable seats for the child’s age or size, or seats that are not right for the vehicle.
Residents can attend the child car seat check for free between 10am and 3pm on Thursday, 4 June at Tesco Car Park, Station Road, Harrow.
